A sun-kissed Tel Aviv-style restaurant in Bankside
Bala Baya, set under the Old Union Yard Arches, brings the essence of the Eastern Mediterranean to Bankside. The first stand-alone project of chef Eran Tibi, it is a bi-level, Tel Aviv-style eatery and bar whose Bauhaus-inspired, kaleidoscopic space evokes the sun-kissed youthfulness of the Middle East in the heart of Southwark.

The Space
Designer Afroditi Krassa channels the white, sun-bleached Bauhaus of Tel Aviv: a largely achromatic ground floor washed in white and lifted by pops of burnt orange, terrazzo underfoot and fronds of green palm. Warm bespoke lighting glows against the raw brick of the railway arches, and a seat at the counter puts you right in front of the open kitchen.
